We all know that moving house can be a stressful experience. Sadly we can’t completely take that stress away from you, but what we can do is give you some tips to make it go a bit more smoothly.
Our top tip is to help you move heavy items of furniture with ease. Invest in furniture gliders and you’ll find it a lot easier to get the likes of sofas, cabinets and sideboards out of your old home and into your new one. Plus, it’ll make rearranging the furniture in your new home easier too.
The guys at the Hitchin Daily Press recently shared some other moving hacks that you might find useful.
Their first tip is to think carefully when you’re packing. Make sure you put anything that you’ll want or need first in a box that’s easy to find and easily accessible. By packing items like your kettle, a few mugs, pjs and other first-day essentials in one place, you’ll have less stressful start to life in your new home.
Hand in hand with that is labelling boxes clearly, so you know which boxes you’ve packed what in.
If you’ve got a lot of complicated electronics and are dreading having to set them up in your new place, make sure you take a photo of the wires and connections before you dismantle everything and pack it up.
When it comes to your clothes, you might find it’s easier to transport them in bin bags rather than boxes. Take your hanging clothes, still on their hangers, and put them in a bin bag. Leave the hangers sticking out of the top and tie the bag closed around them with string or an elastic band. Then they’ll be ready to go straight back in your wardrobe at the other end.
