If you’ve been thinking about revamping your home but are stuck for ideas on how best to change your decor, you might want to have a look at what’s hot in the world of interior design, according to Pinterest.
The social media site recently published its list of the top trends for the coming 12 months, all of which are based on the terms that have seen the biggest uptick in searches.
It seems more people are looking to add a splash of colour to their interiors. Bold wallpaper, for instance, saw searches increase by 401 per cent over last year, with the website suggesting that can mean everything from tropical leaves to bright prints.
Another decor trend that’s taking off is yellow – and in particular using mustard yellow to bring a bit of vibrancy to a room. Searches for this term were up by 45 per cent this year.
If you’re going to be decorating, you’ll need to move your furniture out of the way. Make this an easy and simple process by investing in sofa gliders to get your heavy pieces out of the way with minimum effort.
Geometric shapes were another design trend highlighted by Pinterest, which noted that searches for geometric paint were up by 225 per cent.
It’s not only Pinterest that has been highlighting design trends for the year ahead. Ikea has also made some suggestions, including that more people are moving towards what it describes as ‘maximalist Scandi’. Think bold and bright colours and prints, Refinery29 explained.
